Gareth Snell MP launches second annual Small Business Awards to celebrate local businesses
Stoke-on-Trent Central MP Gareth Snell is once again calling on residents to champion their favourite independent businesses as nominations open for the second year of his Small Business Awards.
Following the success of last year’s awards, Gareth is inviting people across Stoke-on-Trent Central to recognise the local businesses that make a difference to their communities.
The awards aim to highlight the vital role small businesses play in keeping high streets vibrant, creating jobs, supporting local communities and driving the local economy.
Residents are now being encouraged to nominate their favourite independent businesses ahead of Small Business Saturday on 5 December 2026, the nationwide campaign celebrating the UK’s small business sector.
Every business nominated will:
- Be featured on Gareth’s official social media channels.
- Receive a poster to display, encouraging customers and supporters to vote for them.
Category winners will also receive a special certificate in recognition of their achievement and their contribution to the local community.

The awards form part of the lead-up to Small Business Saturday UK, which continues to encourage people to shop local and support independent businesses during the important festive trading period.
Last year’s inaugural awards attracted nominations for businesses across Stoke-on-Trent Central, celebrating the diversity and strength of the local business community.
