Severn Trent Water Roadworks Update

I am aware of the chaos that the most recent Severn Trent Water Road closures have caused for residents and motorists in Barthomley Road, Chorlton Road, Northam Road and Woodward Street.

I met with senior representatives of Severn Trent Water towards the end of last year and asked them to reconsider their plans to commence works in various side streets before the works to Town Road/Chell Street/Hanley Road were completed and these roads were fully re-opened.

Severn Trent Water decided to press ahead with their plans regardless and residents and motorists are now facing the consequences.

I have written to Severn Trent Water asking them to carry out an urgent review of current and future plans for road closures in the area and specifically asking them to install traffic lights at the Northam Road/Hanley Road junction and refrain from commencing any further works to side streets before Town Road/Chell Street/Hanley Road is fully re-opened.
